ASEAN Women Leaders Explore the Philippines

Through Agila: The EKsperience

Sta. Rosa, Laguna – Members of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN) were recently in Manila to attend a series of forums to discuss the growing role of women in today’s faster-paced, technology-driven world. The talks focused on S.T.E.A.M., which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, a very timely theme for this year’s meeting of female minds. Studies have shown that women who pursue careers in these fields are found to be more successful and enjoy higher incomes. No wonder more and more females are drawn to these areas of expertise, and find themselves at the forefront along with their male counterparts.

Enchanted Kingdom’s (EK) Chief Operating Officer Dr. Cynthia R. Mamon was among the women representatives present at the AWEN-led forum. The COO invited several of her co-delegates to spend a day at EK, the Philippines’ first and only world-class theme park to try out its latest attraction, Agila: The Eksperience.

The distinguished guests turned park visitors were HJ Zakiah Datin Paduka Hjh Rokiah and Ali Zainab, President and Executive Committee member respectively of the Brunei Darussalam Women’s Business Council; Leonila De la Cruz Luna, Executive Director of the Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Organization, and Dr. Eng Lykuong, Chairperson of the Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association;and Laura Irawati, Ida Nangyu, and Mahendra Yati from AWEN Indonesia. The foreign delegates were joined by representatives of the Filipino AWEN group led by Women’s Business Council Philippines (WomenBizPH) Program Consultant and AWEN Secretariat, Ana Bobadilla, together with representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry.

Highlighting their EK visit was a ride on Agila: the EKsperience, the first and only flying theater in the country, where the AWEN guests were able to soar on the wings of the mighty Philippine eagle as it flew across twenty of the country’s stunning destinations in larger than life, truly realistic 7-D.

The guests were clearly impressed with what they saw, and commended Enchanted Kingdom for its world-class attractions. Dr. Eng Lykuong of Cambodia calls the park “an exciting place where art, culture, and technology combine to create a space for children to enjoy and learn at the same time.” Putri Datin of Brunei Darussalam was particularly impressed with Agila, calling it “beautifully executed, with a panorama of the beautiful places that encourage tourists to explore more of the Philippines when they visit.” She sums up their experience by saying, “Enchanted Kingdom is a place where you can find relaxation, whether you are young or old, with a flying theater that is certainly unique and with an admirable mission of helping to protect the environment and the wildlife of the Philippines. This is a perfect example of how technology and creativity can come together to result in something really fantastic!”
