The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Healthy Women, Healthy Economic Policy Toolkit was unveiled by health, economic development and gender officials from APEC member economies and with assistance from the private sector.  The toolkit launch is one of the side events surrounding the APEC Women and the Economy 2015 Fora happening from September 15-18, 2015 at the Philippine International Convention Center.

The Policy Toolkit offers a user-friendly one-stop menu of policy options that can be used to pilot, implement and scale up actions appropriate to local economic and social conditions in APEC member economies. It details issues, actions and implementing elements for improving women’s health in APEC economies across five categories: workplace health and safety; health access and awareness; work-life balance; sexual and reproductive health; and gender-based violence.

In the photo during the launch are (from left to right): Dr. Kenneth Hartigan-Go, Undersecretary, Department of Health, who moderated the program; Ms. Doris Magsaysay-Ho, Chair, APEC Business Advisory Council; Ms. Catherine M. Russell, U.S. Ambassador at-Large for Global Women’s Issues; Hon. Nora K. Terrado, Chair, APEC WE 2015 Fora and Undersecretary, Department of Trade of Industry; Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial, Assistant Secretary, Department of Health; and Dr. Belén Garijo, CEO and President, Merck Healthcare.
