The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation across the world, paving the way to virtual working, as well as contract work arrangements or the so called “gig economy” or freelancing to deliver services online. The expanded use of digital platforms and the adoption of remote working arrangements resulted to a rise in e-commerce, e-services and online freelance work.1
