Canada 🇨🇦 Minister Mary Ng is the Ministe for Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade . WomenBizPH was selected as her first meeting upon arrival for a Roundtable discussion.Minister Ng was accompanied by Canada H.E. Ambassador Peter MacArthur and other delegates from the Canadian government. Minister Ng is the first Canadian Minister to visit the Philippines in 4 years.
WomenbizPH shared how the organization evolved since it’s inception 25 years ago to support women empowerment and leadership. WomenbizPH Chairperson Mylene Abiva , President Rosemarie Rafael , VP Atty Benedicta Du-Baladad , Trustee Atty Lorna Kapunan , members Rhoda Castro-Caliwara , Sarah P. Deloraya and Atty Dulce BT Punzalan represented the organization. WomenbizPH Women Strong Members Arkat Lawanen Comm. Asliyah Limbona (Maranao Women Weavers ) and Chriz Valdez ( Cavite Association of Producers and Entrepreneurs) participated.
Minister Ng shared trade policy and interventions she initiated for Canada for an “ Economy that works for all”. She has implemented several women centric programs and legislation such as Knowledge Hub, Pay equity for women, affordable parental leave , early learning and child care , access to capital and start ups / Upskilling including LGBT to name a few. Canada plans to have a Global trade gender arrangement through WomenbizPH and other strategic alliance programs in the Philippines
