ASEAN Access Week WomenbizPH Main Organizer

WomenbizPH an appointed Network Partner by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for ASEAN Access is a main Organizer of ASEAN Access Week.

ASEAN Access Week discussions for Session 1 and 2 were Growth of MSMEs in ASEAN through Cross Border Activities , Cross Border trade facilitations between ASEAN and it’s extended partner countries through RCEP and other multilateral agreements was one of the main discussion points at the ASEAN Summit.

MSMEs being the key economic pillar of the ASEAN Member States needs to be equipped with the awareness, knowledge and leverage the opportunities brought onwards by 4IR technologies for expanding their businesses in the digital economies of ASEAN.

This panel focused on the cross border trade facilitation opportunities through the utilisation of financial technologies commonly referred to as FinTech.

ASEAN Access Session 3 led by Moderator WomenbizPH Chairperson Mylene Abiva discussed about the following talk points :

  • The fashion industry is responsible for 2.1 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
  • Synthetic fibres account for 35% of microplastics released into the oceans.
  • The importance of and increasing global trends towards greater environmental awareness and protection – can be helped along with plant based natural fibres that are biodegradable / renewable
  • Sustainable fibres are renewable and biobased, such as banana, lotus, pineapple, bamboo, jute, coconut, hemp, to name a few, as well as sustainable cotton and silk
  • Abundance of raw materials in ASEAN
  • Technologies to support the use of these fibres and bring the cost down are continuously advancing
  • The Asia Pacific region is expected to occupy a notable market share, in terms of product consumption, due to the strong presence of key application industries, including textile industry.
