WomenibzPH WOMEN RISE Research Study Launch

The outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic has had an unsettling impact on MSMEs in the Philippines. Women-led and women-owned enterprises make up 58% of the country’s MSMEs.

To better grasp the needs of Filipino women entrepreneurs, Women’s Business Council Philippines spearheaded the WOMEN RISE Research study, conducted in Q1 of 2021 which took a close look at sunrise industries and the factors for their success, and challenges to progress such as the use of financial technology and the impact of national and local business environments .

WOMEN Rise Research findings launch received support from APEC and ASEAN leaders. Message of support from PCW Chair Sandy Montano, Senator Risa Hontiveros, APEC Policy Partnership on Women in Economy (PPWE) APEC New Zealand Chair Renee Graham, Secretary Ramon Lopez ( DTI) , Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena (DOST)and attendance of ASEAN Business Advisory Council ED Gil Gonzales , ICSB Secretary General Womenpreneurs Indonesia Diah Yusuf , Zonta Club of Metropolitan Pasig President Ruby Banares , Management Association of the Philippines Board Marivic Espano , Indian Women in Enterprise (I-WE) Sharon Danisha Vaswani and officers of other government and private partner organisations . WomenbizPH members Dulce Blanca Punzalan, Cynthia Romero Mamon , Gean Ledesma Tan as support audience.

Women Rise Research team Liezl Formilleza-Dunuan gave an overview of the findings and WomenbizPH recommendations. Panelists from Women Rise respondents were Maan Emata (Region 10 Cagayan de Oro) and Wit Holganza ( Region 11 Davao) . The WOMEN STRONG Network was announced.
